How Singapore salary deductions work

Singapore resident personal income tax is progressive. For non-resident employees, employment income is generally taxed at 15% or the resident progressive rates, whichever results in higher tax. Tax residency depends on IRAS rules, including the applicable presence and employment tests.

CPF contributions generally apply to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents working in Singapore. The employee share reduces take-home pay; the employer share is an additional employer cost and is not deducted from the employee’s gross salary.

What this estimate leaves out

This calculator models regular monthly wages only. It does not calculate annual bonuses and Additional Wage CPF ceilings, first- or second-year PR graduated rates, personal reliefs other than a basic earned income relief estimate, tax rebates, stock awards, benefits-in-kind, tax treaty outcomes or individual tax clearance.

CPF contributions are subject to wage ceilings and monthly rounding. The calculator applies the 2026 Ordinary Wage ceiling of S$8,000 and does not model every payroll edge case or partial-month employment.
